The first-ever production Honda Civic Type R coming to the United States made its official debut at the 2017 AutoCon automotive performance and tuning convention in Los Angeles. The all-new turbocharged 2017 Civic Type R is the fastest and most powerful Honda ever sold in America, and is the answer to what compact performance car enthusiasts have been asking for.
At the heart of the 2017 Honda Civic Type R is a 2.0-liter i-VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder engine exclusive to the Type R making an impressive 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. To help control that power, the Civic Type R uses an Adaptive Damper System and a Limited Slip Differential. There are three available drive modes, including +R Driving Mode, which retune the suspension, steering and throttle settings.
Inside, the sporty interior features lightweight, yet comfortable front bucket seats and a Customizable Digital Meter Display which can show boost pressure, g-forces and track times. Every aspect of the Civic Type R was built to help maximize your performance on the track.
The 2017 Honda Civic Type R looks the part as well, with a track-tested aero kit that features front and side splitters, a rear diffuser, vortex generators and a wing designed to keep the car stable. The center-exit triple-exhaust tip system has a throaty growl, and the 20-inch black alloy wheels offer style and performance.
