America’s bestselling SUV for the past 20 years, the Honda CR-V, has once again been named the Motor Trend SUV of the Year. The all-new fifth-generation Honda CR-V beat out 25 contenders in this year’s evaluation.
“The Honda CR-V has earned its place as America’s most popular SUV over the past two decades by providing customers with just-the-right balance of features, capabilities, fun-to-drive performance and outstanding quality,” said Jeff Conrad of Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are incredibly honored to earn this recognition from the experts at Motor Trend in a very competitive and crowded field.”
The editors at Motor Trend appreciated the CR-V’s high-quality interior, modern design, advanced safety features, efficiency and overall value. All vehicles tested for Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year award must be “all-new” or “substantially upgraded” to be eligible for that year’s competition.
Honda builds the CR-V at three plants in North America, and builds its 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and automatic transmission in the U.S. at its plants in Ohio. Since its introduction in 1997, Honda has sold over 4.2 million CR-Vs in America, making the top selling SUV in the U.S. over the last 20 years.
