Honda Shows New Insight Hybrid Prototype at NAIAS

Honda unveiled its newest vehicle at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the all-new Honda Insight Prototype. This new prototype gives a good look at the newest model being added to Honda’s growing lineup of electrified vehicles.

The production version of the 2019 Honda Insight will begin arriving at dealers later in 2018, and will bring sleek styling, a roomy cabin, refined driving dynamics and excellent fuel efficiency to the premium compact segment.

“The new 2019 Honda Insight signals we are entering a new era of electrification with a new generation of Honda products that offers customers the benefits of advanced powertrain technology without the traditional trade-offs in design, premium features or packaging,” said Henio Arcangeli, Jr. of American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Thanks to its long wheelbase platform, the 2019 Honda Insight has class-leading passenger space, and its interior is filled with premium features, including available perforated leather seating, an 8-inch capacitive Display Audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch digital LCD driver’s meter.

The 2019 Insight is powered by a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine, electric motor and lithium-ion battery pack. Most of the time, the Insight will operate only on electric power, drawing energy from the engine or battery pack as needed.

Available safety features include Honda LaneWatch and the Honda Sensing suite of active safety features and driver-assistance technology. This includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow and new Traffic Sign Recognition.
